Don't look Behind you is full of surprising adventures .
There was never a dull moment! The author has a good sense of humor and keeps you engaged in every story.I lied the book because the author writes of an Africa that is fading from view. He loved the land and the animals and personified the stories. He told of interesting comrades and clients. .He made you feel like you were in on the adventure. I hope he writes more books!

Amazing
This was a very quick read. I finished the book, pictures and all, within a 48 hour period. Allison’s adventures may not be typical of most safari guides but for sure it is the reality that many face in this ever-expanding adventure.Allison’s true home is Africa and his books explain why he would like to live nowhere else.I have a tee-shirt for Allison. It reads “Africa is calling. I must return”. Reading his books, you will understand why he returns.

What a life.
This book is kind of like the out takes version of his first book Whatever You Do, Don't Run - but that in no way diminishes the pleasure of this read. Peter Allison is funny, likeable and almost wincingly down to earth. If it can be broken, he'll break it (jeeps especially) if it's further than a few clicks out from camp, he'll get lost, if it's big, exotic, has an attitude and the ability to eat you... he'll be the first one dragging you along to get an up close look at it. Who wouldn't want this guy as a friend or a guide? He's certainly fun, entertaining and educational to read. He loves the animals and his self-deprecation doesn't get in the way of you sensing that there's probably no one else you'd rather have showing you the beauty of Africa than this guy - whether you're in the back of his jeep or lying comfortably in your bed thousands of miles from that elephant that he's hiding behind the tree from. I love that he shares his fascinating life with the rest of us.

An uproarious tale of adventures with wildlife
This book along with his second are a brilliant memoir of the African Safari experience.I read these on our flight to Botswana for our safari to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. It made the 30 hours of travel time a hilarious start to a great adventure. Love them Honey Badgers.Don’t miss the opportunity for a great belly laugh.

A well told tale of guiding safaris in Africa
A funny and often touching account of guiding safaris in eastern Africa. I began this book while escaping the October mid day heat in a tent camp in Savuti park Botswana. I finished from my home in Seattle several months later. Turning the final page, I caught a sob rising up in my throat for the beautiful country of Botswana, the animals that make their home in deserts and deltas, and her gracious people. Peter Allison draws the reader in with his delightful and hilarious adventures and leaves them wanting more.

Excellent read.
I loved this book. The author is very descriptive and for the most part, really funny! I felt as if I were right alongside him in his safari vehicle. I have been to Sabi Sands twice and I was able to connect with many of his descriptions of the area and wildlife. All in all, this is a great book.

One more great read by Peter Allison!
Love Peter Allison's books! I ended up buying three of them- each is hilarious while being very informative. His experiences in the bush, and his love for the most incredible things the natural world has to offer (big and small) creates a visceral response. Though I've never been on safari, I feel like I'm right there when I read his stories. Sometimes harrowing, sometimes hilarious, but always entertaining!
