A fast and bright wide-angle prime, the Canon RF-mount Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens from Venus Optics is a rectilinear lens with a sophisticated optical design to effectively limit distortion. The bright f/2 maximum aperture makes this lens especially useful for astrophotography and low-light use, and when paired with the 5.9 minimum focusing distance, distinct shallow depth of field imagery can also be produced. The optical construction includes three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements to control both chromatic and spherical aberrations for greater sharpness, clarity, and reduced color fringing. A Frog Eye Coating has been applied, too, to repel dust and moisture from the front element of the lens to benefit working in trying environmental conditions. Additionally, the manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture changes to suit video applications, and the front of the lens is threaded to accept 72mm screw-in filters. Remarkable, solidly built and extemely useful lens
The media could not be loaded. Loving this lens. Solid build, fast, nearly no barrel distortion. Video review attached (music: RetroSoul & HappyRock from Bensound).

Wonderfully built, but some flaws hold it back.
I've had this lens for almost a week and I am still debating if I should return it or not. This is a beautiful piece of glass. Construction is excellent, and one wonders how Venus Optics was able to make a 15mm full frame f/2 wide angle lens so compact. Construction is all metal, and lends it a reassuring heft and feel. Focus ring is silky smooth; although it turns the opposite way as glass from Canon. Aperture ring can be used with full f/stop clicks, or de-clicked with a turn of a switch on the barrel (excellent!). Center sharpness at widest aperture is good and corner sharpness is usable. My biggest complaints (and again, a trade-off from making such a compact lens), are the severe vignetting at any aperture wider than f/8. And it's not only the very distracting vignetting, but for some reason (and probably just my copy...), the asymmetrical nature of the vignetting that indicates some sort of de-centering. Venus optics offers a downloadable profile for Lightroom, and it does a very good job at correcting some of the vignetting at higher f/stops. But the asymmetry... very hard to fix. This trait is not so noticeable when shooting interiors (which is when wider apertures would probably be used the most), but blemishes what would otherwise be a very delightful compact wide aperture wide angle lens.
