Carmina Burana: Choral Score

Perfect for SATB Musicians
This score was perfect for me!About Me: I sing with my local symphony chorus. I am not a technically skilled musician and I don't play an instrument. So, I have no need for the instrumental score; it would have only added unnecessary bulk. If you know what it feels like to hold a music folder in front of you for an hour or more, you know that a few extra ounces can make a difference!About the Score: As previously stated, this score contains Vocal Parts Only. With the exception of one or two movements, I found there was enough room to write in the pronunciations below the original text. TIP: Write in pencil! Pronunciations may change from one performance to the next.About the Photo: The score does NOT have holes in it. I went to a local copy store and had the clerk use the industrial strength, laser-guided hole-punch. I think it cost me less than $2 - well worth it! I added the colored tabs to make it easier on myself during rehearsal. I sing Alto. The pink tabs are movements with Alto parts, green for orchestra only, yellow for men only. I'm a fan of color-coding. Because my score is in a folder, the tabs aren't visible during performance.Folder Review: If you sing with any kind of regularity, this folder is a worthwhile investment! Many in my chorus simply applied black construction paper to the cover. That's certainly an option worth considering since it's likely to be the only score you'll need for the concert. I bought the folder pictured for all the other performances we do that have multiple pieces. I love it so much, I preferred to adapt my score to the folder (i.e. get the holes punched). This folder is excellent for concert performances and the pencil holders make it easy to add those last-minute adjustments from the chorusmaster. There are options on Amazon for choral folders, but I got mine at musicfolder.com - the most similar one on Amazon is almost twice the price. So, definitely do some comparison shopping.

Not my first choice, but the print style is clean and clear.
The notes and text large enough for my presbyopic eyes. It does not include the solos. It is only the choral score. It does not include the accompaniment except for some entrances and instrumental sections of the choral pieces. In some places, all you get is a measure with the big bar and a number in it, as in a band score. It's laid out in such a way that you'll need to buy tabs to mark where pieces begin because the page space is used very efficiently. So some pieces begin at the middle or the bottom of a page and involve page turns back and forth for repeats. Frankly, I wouldn't have bought it except that it's the one being used by the choir I'm singing with. I would much rather have the full score with the piano reduction, though the one advantage to this format is that you don't have choristers turning pages during the solos or instrumental sections.

efficient and as advertised!
Arrived quickly. Though it was indeed used, it was very lightly used. And since the previous singer using this score was a soprano, this baritone was not at all bothered by the few markings in the score.

easy to read
The score was well-printed, easy to read, and reasonably priced. The only thing it wanted was a translation somewhere in the text.

Five Stars
Remember this is NOT the entire piece - only choral parts. It serves it's purpose.

no accompaniment
This version misses out all the accompaniment and the orchestral sections. It doesnlt even have the lead-ins to the parts you sing so there's nothing to cue you in when you have to start singing. For me this was no use in rehearsal at all.. When the piano or orchestra are playing, you can't tell how long before your next entry. Also it means you can't get your note from the accompaniment. As I sing 2nd Soprano, I usualy look at the accompaniment in order to get my notes and this score was no help at all.
