I only rated the "Easy to Install with a "3" because the instructions were very vague almost to the point of being incorrect. A quick view of a YouTube video on the installation gave me everything I needed in just a couple of minutes. Very good quality item, but the composition of the instructions left much to be had.

It's not too often that you see a switch/outlet that has a pilot light built into the switch. I saw this on Amazon and replaced my furnace hard wired on/off switch with this setup so that I could install a plug which made it no longer hard wired so that I can now plug my furance into my portable power station (Jackery 1000-highly recommended) or now have the ability to run an extension cord to my generator if necessary in case of another extended power failure like the last one we had here in Texas.This outlet is built tough and holds the plug tightly. The ad here on Amazon is mislabeled. This is a 20 amp outlet (that accepts a standard plug) which is a good feature because it's built to a tougher standard and will hopefully last a long time.The pilot light will let you know if the circuit has gone dead without you having to get any test equipment out to do any diagnostic work. It's as if this switch/outlet was designed for this particular application.The only issue which you might have to contend with is if you decide to power the outlet independent of the switch. You might have to setup a switch leg but you would have to deal with that issue no matter what outlet you decide to install. In my case I wanted the switch to control the outlet so it was easy. If you decide to follow my lead it will be a straight forward installation and this outlet would be perfect for that situation.Highly recommend especially if you decide to setup a plug and and outlet for your furnace like I did.

This is a good switch, unfortunately it wouldn't work for my situation as the pilot light was causing a current imbalance at the outlet and would trip my GFCI. As long as the switch and the outlet are on the same circuit or if you don't require GFCI protection you will be fine. My problem was I was trying to use the switch to control my pool heater and the outlet was for the filter pump. They were two different GFCI protected circuits but the LED shares a common neutral with the outlet. I eventually had to buy a switch without the pilot light and now everything works great. Amazon let me keep the switch so If I ever need something like this for a customer in the future, I got it covered. Thank you.

I installed it in my garage for swithing on/off our 15 (actually 12) Amp EVSE for charging our plug-in hybrid cars on Level 1. Like headline says it worked for about a year. It stopped working i.e. switch got somehow stuck in the off position. Toggle moves just fine but no actuation of switch to on position happens anymore.Well, I both 2 of these just in case that would happen. But this time I decided to go with 20Amp GFCI outlet end just use breaker in it for switching it on/off. Let's see how this goes....

Mispriced (too low). Price seems to be that of the 15-amp device noted in the description. The headline and the picture both indicate a 20-amp receptacle, nearly twice the price elsewhere. Received 20-amp device -- both receptacle and switch 20-amp. There is some potential for a ground fault if the switch is wired in a different circuit than the receptacle, because the switch's pilot light must use the neutral of the receptacle's circuit. Not WR (weather resistant); WR would be an improvement. Ground terminal at center of device due to longer body than usual.

it is a 20 amp that i receivedneeded to add an outlet to a wall that only had a light switch, this got it doneIt has the child proof plastic-slide-insert on the outlet which i dont like... but I can see really helpful if you have small children.Purchased thinking of doing installing myself but upon looking at the enclosed instructions opted for a professional install... which i would recommend if you arent experienced or trained to handleBut works like a charm
