does this require your receiver to be on a network? or can you stream bluetooth from phone without the network

If you have this then you don't need a network to stream from your phone.

Can I use this to pair my Onkyo receiver to bluetooth headphones and stream the audio from movies to the headphones? I want to keep it quiet at night

It appears to me (though I haven't tried that), that it is a receiver only. It transmits a signal read by other devices. So I would say no..it does not. There is however a jack/port to plug a wired headset on the receiver though I know that's not what your looking for. I hope this was helpful...

will any bluetooth adaptor work? does it have to be the UBT-1?

Only the UBT-1 will work. It was simple to set up also.

Hello i have a tx-nr1008 someone know if is compatible with the ubt-1 blutooth adapter?

It worked with the 5000 seriesi suspect it'll work with all of them
